This policy explains how cookies and similar technologies are used on www.tablafocus.com.
Consent and essential cookies
We use essential cookies required for core website functionality and security. We also store your analytics consent choice in the cookie tf_analytics_consent (up to one year) and under the same key in your browser's local storage.
When you vote or suggest an idea on the roadmap, we set a signed anonymous browser cookie, tf_roadmap_visitor, for up to one year. It lets us remember that browser's votes and limit abuse without requiring an account. When you add a piece to the composition library, we set a similar signed anonymous cookie, tf_library_visitor, for up to one year. It limits repeated submissions and lets related submissions from the same browser be reviewed together. Both are essential cookies: they do not depend on your analytics consent choice and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. The site's administration pages set one more essential cookie, tf_admin_session, for up to 12 hours, only for the people who run the site.
Some parts of the site keep things in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie. The composition editor keeps the piece you are writing, so reloading the page does not lose it, and removes it when you close the piece. Forms keep an unsent draft, including any email address you typed, until you send it, and Tabla Math remembers its progress. On a small screen, the composition editor remembers that you dismissed its small-screen notice, under the key tabla-studio.small-screen-notice.dismissed. This stays in your browser and is not sent to us, except what you choose to submit.
Automated-abuse prevention
Form submissions that publish or reach us directly — roadmap idea requests, support and feedback messages, and composition library submissions — use Cloudflare Turnstile to detect automated abuse. Turnstile may use cookies or similar technical signals as needed to complete the security check, and its script loads only on the pages that carry those forms. Roadmap voting and the waitlist form do not use Turnstile.
We derive keyed hashes (HMACs) from browser and network information to enforce voting, request, and submission limits without storing the raw identifiers in the rate-limit records. Those records expire after 48 hours.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage patterns such as page visits, waitlist clicks, and high-level engagement. It is loaded only after you grant consent in the banner — before that, the site makes no connection to Google's analytics servers. When consent is granted, Google Analytics sets its standard cookies (_ga and a _ga_* container cookie, each lasting up to two years). Page addresses sent to Google Analytics never include email or token parameters. If you decline after accepting, those Google Analytics cookies are removed. We do not sell personal data.
Managing cookies and consent
You can control cookies in your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect parts of the website experience.
You can change your analytics consent choice at any time from Cookie settings in the site footer, which shows the consent banner again. If you decline after accepting, the Google Analytics cookies are removed and Google Analytics is no longer loaded.
