Use of service
Tabla Focus is a personal-use educational service: a tabla practice app, curated learning and reference content, and product information. It is built for individual practice and study, not as a publishing or distribution platform. You may use the service only in compliance with applicable laws, and you must be old enough to use the service under applicable law. If you sign in, you must also be old enough to use your own Apple Account under Apple's terms.
Your content: compositions, lists, lehras, Scan Notes, and recordings
Compositions hold your personal compositions and phrases, and Custom Lists hold the lists you make of them. Composed lehras are the melodies you write in the Lehra Composer. Scan Notes is for personal notebook scans and related metadata. Practice recordings are audio takes you record of your own playing. None of these is a public gallery, publishing platform, social feed, or community upload system.
You own the content you create, and you are responsible for it. You warrant that you have the right to capture and keep what you scan, write, or record — including any material by others that appears in it, such as a teacher's composition in a scanned page or accompaniment audible in a recording. Do not use any Tabla Focus feature to store, create, or distribute content that is illegal, abusive, infringing, or that you do not have the right to use.
Compositions, Custom Lists, composed lehras, Scan Notes content, and practice recordings use private CloudKit storage on your device and, when iCloud is available, in your own iCloud account. Tabla Focus does not store that content in Supabase or publish it to other users, and needs no licence to it beyond what is required to store, sync, export, and delete it for you.
No certification
Practice statistics, Mock Exam results, and any eligibility or readiness indicators describe coverage of study material only. Mock Exam scores are practice feedback only. Tabla Focus does not certify, grade, or qualify anyone; it confers no title, rank, or credential; and its indicators have no standing with any school, examination board, or institution. Decisions about examinations, performances, or teaching remain yours and your teacher's.
Your account
You may continue without an account to use the full Taal Metronome, including Lay Automation, plus the Tabla Tuner and Tanpura. Guest metronome sessions are not saved, synced, restored, or added to Practice Progress. Sign in with Apple is required before you use membership features, purchase or restore a membership, or use features that read or write account-backed data. If you sign in, you are responsible for keeping your device and Apple Account secure because they control access to your account.
You may delete your account at any time inside the app from Settings → Account & Data → Account → Delete Account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it as described under Subscription below. We may suspend or terminate access to the service for use that violates these terms, is unlawful, or risks harm to Tabla Focus or other people. Where practical, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you first.
Subscription
Tabla Focus offers a subscription in two billing periods — weekly and annual — purchased through Apple's App Store using your Apple Account. The Taal Metronome in full — any taal, any tempo, any sound, including Lay Automation — the Tabla Tuner and the Tanpura do not require a membership and can be used without signing in. Other small tools, such as Help and non-personal Siri answers, may also work without an account. Account-backed free utilities, including personal reminders, the riyaz record and exports, require Sign in with Apple but do not require a membership. Practice Progress and the other main features require a membership.
- Billing and renewal. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period — every week on a weekly plan, every year on an annual plan — unless cancelled at least 24 hours before that period ends. Apple charges your Apple Account payment method; the price and billing period are shown on the purchase screen and in App Store checkout, in your local currency, before you confirm.
- Free trial. Eligible subscribers who choose the annual plan can receive a three-day free trial; the weekly plan has no trial. Apple determines eligibility, and the offer shown in App Store checkout applies to your purchase. The trial converts to a paid annual subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Cancellation. Cancel any time in your Apple Account subscription settings, or in the app from Settings → Account & Data → Account → Manage Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; access continues until then. Deleting your Tabla Focus account does not cancel the subscription.
- Your Apple Account. Your membership follows the Apple Account used for App Store purchases. Restore Purchases can recover it on another device using that Apple Account, after you sign in to Tabla Focus. The Apple Account used for App Store purchases may differ from the account used to sign in to Tabla Focus. Updating the app does not create a new subscription or change your existing renewal date. Signing out of Tabla Focus does not cancel the Apple subscription.
- Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Tabla Focus cannot issue App Store refunds directly.
- Price changes. If the price changes, Apple notifies you in advance and, where required, asks you to agree before the new price applies.
- What the subscription covers. Either billing period opens the same full feature set. Features may evolve over time, and the no-warranty and liability sections of these terms apply to subscribed features equally.
- If a subscription lapses. Your Compositions, Custom Lists, Scan Notes, and practice recordings stay readable, playable, and deletable, and notes and recordings you recently deleted can still be restored and exported. Most creating, editing, and per-item sharing stops. The Lehra Composer, Practice Progress, Mock Exam, Sheet Music, Glossary, Parampara, Listening Room, Tabla Math, and Taal Guide lock as whole screens until you subscribe again. Favorites stay visible but cannot be removed. All of your data keeps syncing, and every export in Settings stays available — every lehra you wrote can be exported as MIDI from Settings. Deleting your account removes its associated app data, subject to the retention limits and separate subscription records described in the Privacy Policy.
Website submissions
Public-facing website submissions must be accurate, respectful, and free of abusive or misleading content. We may remove submissions that violate these terms.
Roadmap suggestions are reviewed before publication. We may edit them for clarity, reject or remove them, or merge requests that describe the same or a substantially similar idea. Votes are advisory product signals only. A suggestion, vote, public status, or release estimate does not promise that we will build, release, or maintain a feature.
Do not submit confidential information in a roadmap request. Suggestions are treated as non-confidential, and you give Tabla Focus permission to use, adapt, combine, and publish them for product planning and improvement without compensation or attribution. You remain responsible for having the right to submit the material.
When you add a piece to the composition library, you grant Tabla Focus a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish its notation, and the optional name you enter under “Credit as”, publicly. You warrant that you have the right to submit that notation and to use that name, and that publishing them does not infringe anyone else's rights. Library submissions are reviewed, and we may reject or remove any of them.
Intellectual property
App and website code, branding, and editorial content are protected. The app's bundled learning content, notation, artwork, and audio are original work, licensed material, or public-domain sources; attributions for licensed audio appear below and in the app. Your use of the service grants a personal, non-transferable licence to use that content for individual practice and study — not to copy, republish, extract, or redistribute it.
You keep responsibility for any content you create, enter, scan, or import into the app or website. If you believe material on the service infringes your rights, use corrections and content feedback and it will be reviewed promptly.
External links and third-party services
Some pages link to third-party sites and services. Tabla Focus is not responsible for external content, policies, or downtime.
Third-party audio attributions
Some playback voices use audio contributed by, or licensed from, others. These attributions also appear in the app under Settings → Help & About → Credits, which holds the full list of credits.

No warranty and limitation of liability
Content is provided for practice, educational, and informational use. Tabla Focus does not replace a teacher, legal advice, or professional advice. The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted, error-free operation.
To the extent permitted by law: Tabla Focus is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data stored in your own iCloud account, arising from your use of the service; and the total aggregate liability of Tabla Focus for all claims arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, and nothing removes mandatory consumer protections where you live.
Governing law
Tabla Focus is run from Portugal. These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and the courts of Portugal have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
If you use Tabla Focus as a consumer, nothing in these terms removes the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and that jurisdiction is non-exclusive for you: you may bring proceedings in the courts of your own country where local law gives you that right, and we will bring any claim against you there.
Apple's terms
Tabla Focus is distributed through Apple's App Store. Your download and use of the app are also subject to Apple's applicable store terms and licensed-application agreement. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its content.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Tabla Focus against claims by third parties arising from content you submit, scan, record, or import in breach of these terms, or from your unlawful use of the service.
General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms; Tabla Focus may assign them as part of a reorganisation or transfer of the service. These terms, together with the policies linked below, are the entire agreement between you and Tabla Focus about the service. On termination of your account, the sections that by their nature survive — including intellectual property, no warranty and limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law — continue to apply. Disputes are resolved on an individual basis to the extent permitted by the law of the country where you live.
