What the glossary is checked against
The tabla has a real scholarly literature, and the definitions on this site are checked against it. These are the works consulted — surveys of the gharanas, cultural studies of particular lineages, work on rhythm and metre, and the research literature on tabla stroke acoustics.
Listing a work here means it informed the reference material, not that it endorses this app. Where a source is a paywalled book or article, the link goes to the publisher or archive record rather than to a copy.
