Theka

ClapWave (khali)

Keeping it

Clap on 1, 5 and 13. Wave on 9. Nothing structural falls on the other matras.

Structure

Same 16/4x4 skeleton and tali-khali map as teentaal; the difference is density and register. The extra 'Tirekite' fills (matras 2 and 10) mark it as a vilambit-khyal theka built to fill very slow beats, not a general-purpose accompaniment.

Structurally identical to Teentaal (16 / 4×4 / tali 1-5-13 / khali 9). The ONLY differences are the more elaborate theka (note the tirekite fills) and its dedicated role as a slow (vilambit) khyal theka. This is the textbook Teentaal-vs-Tilwada confusion — same skeleton, different flesh.

Origins

A modern tabla theka specialised for slow (vilambit) khyal; shares teentaal's structure, so its distinctness is entirely in theka and tempo role.
