"Arrival": the composition with which a Kathak dancer formally enters the stage and the tala — stately pakhawaj-flavored syllables rendered first in recitation, then in footwork and turns. For the tabla player it is repertoire to know from the dance side: amads are accompanied, cued, and often played in unison with the dancer's feet.
The form's pace is deliberate grandeur rather than speed, establishing presence before the technical fireworks of tukras and parans. Its language crosses directly into tabla's own paran vocabulary.
