Two strokes spoken as one word: Dha (edge tone plus open bass together) followed by Ge (open bass alone). The right hand strikes once; the left hand strikes twice — it is as much a left-hand exercise as a vocabulary item.
Dhage opens Ektaal's famous "Dhage Tirekite" pair and threads through kaida themes constantly. The second stroke must match the first Ge in tone despite following instantly; uneven Dhage is a classic diagnosis when a kaida theme sounds lumpy. At speed the word compresses but the two bass attacks stay distinct.
