Fourteen matras in the strikingly uneven grouping 5+2+3+4 — claps on 1, 6, and 11, wave on 8. This is the tala of the dhrupad-family Hori repertoire (Holi songs of Krishna), played on pakhawaj with open, weighty strokes; its theka is spare and angular.
The five-beat opening vibhag dominates the feel: phrases launch across it and resolve against the shorter groups. Singers famously exploit its asymmetry with bol bant across the cycle. On tabla it is met mainly in dhrupad-adjacent accompaniment and as a test of odd-grouping command.
